Dorothée congratulations with your own beautiful new 7/8th cello! Tor op les! Rosemarie, congratulations to you too with your own 7/8th Chinese new cello! Nice that you had the confidence to come all the way from Leuven with your parents! Nice that you didn’t come for nothing.

Ruben’s had cello lessons with me for years. He’s very handy because he thinks up and makes the most beautiful sets for Dutch opera. His little finger tends to stand outstretched. That’s why he made a tool that makes his little finger stay round. Homemade; super handsome! Do you also need help with a joint that is too flexible? There are companies that make these aids, from plastic to silver.

Movies and music: Have fun!

I heard this beautiful Slavic Dance of Dvorak …

arranged for cello and piano and huppelakee; on this page you can see how to get a cello version.

Well here a happy New Year clip with the cello! Handsome…

Inspiration. Elgar!!! And it can always be better and more beautiful… I love master classes, I guess.

Lovely; Skyfall and the likes; beautiful music… Read about this ensemble on their site.

Speaking of the Top 2000 of the year; once upon a time they were always the number one… Now they’re not. For me, they were. What a beautiful performance here. And with two violoncellos I forget the violin.

Cellow known

As you know, another cello weekend is planned in Havelte on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 August. Ellis and I are your teachers and we are already looking for beautiful music. Maximum 24 registrations, divided into three groups. Do you feel like playing together then join us! Concerning the level; it works best if you can already change position, but if you really want to join and still can’t, please mail me for consultation. But it is a must that you master the big grip and with that also the lowered first finger. If you start with your teacher in January, he or she will be fine this summer. Do you want to register? For BlogPost readers who received this mail in their mailbox participation costs € 180,00, for non BlogPost readers € 199,00. Tip: take your partner or family with you: they can go for a nice walk here, and stay in the new nice hotel restaurant Ludiek in Havelte. Of course there are a lot of B&B’s in the area, it’s also nice to stay outside Havelte so you can see some of the region from A to B :-). It is high season so be there on time. Tips will follow in a later blogpost.

Now there is since a week my Membership page via www.celloverkoop.nl/members. I need to approve your registration and then you can visit the Member pages. Gerry signed up for this before I did; she had spotted an invitation at the bottom of a blog post. I’m going to check it out. If you want to become a Member, which is free of charge, you can get in touch with each other for example by posting a post. You can show what your level is, what kind of music you like. You can respond to my Blog and ask questions or change your mind. Also think about tipping someone else off about a new app or an old outdated cello book you want to share. I will find out exactly how it works during the Christmas holidays. Do you want to participate? Become a Member!

Sheet music: recommendation of the month

.

I couldn’t resist ordering some more boxes of fresh sheet music. What did I choose? Cello solos for advanced cellists a delicious bundle with many well-known and lesser known classics. Christopher Bunting excsercises, Boismortier for two celli and three celli! Scales and broken triads for beginners but also for advanced cellists, and a wonderful collection which is written in the first position but sends you in all directions is this Popper bundle! Great grip, lowered first finger, all kinds of rhythms and pranks; super fun and especially if you master the first position you might get through it in the right tempo because this music demands action. A special mention deserves Pop for cello bundle 1 up to and including… 6? I bought it because I had a duo snabble with Ellis, which was great fun by the way, and clients wanted light music. Ellis then recommended me the bundle(s); they are for two cello’s but there’s a CD that accompanies you at all times. I ordered all six bundles; think Pianoguys meets Robbie Williams and Adele. That’s nice! Trying to play with me? As you know the same price as in the store and everything is waiting for you in the studio.

So far the news now. See you soon at class or during a workshop!

Friendly greeting,

Scarlett Arts

Bests cellists!

Hope everyone enjoys the holidays! Just a few more hours and it’s over with the happy 2018. Here in Drenthe it has been wonderfully quiet and cozy the past few weeks, but I was also impressed by the lighting in Amsterdam. Driving from Christmas job to Christmas job I looked out of my eyes. I think my nicest assignment was in the beautiful Andaz hotel, where I was allowed to play Bach suites and carols at the entrance on the other side, the Keizersgracht. For half an hour at the walk in of a private Christmas dinner. To my surprise I was booked by a young IT company and the owner said “You” to me, and I think I was 30 years young. The Bach suites were his favorite, he said, and if it was up to him I could play the first prelude three times that half an hour. So be it! All those young happy people in tuxedos and beautiful outfits with champagne and oysters; how different my life looked when I was 30! No champagne and oysters, not even at Christmas. But a cello that went everywhere. 🙂 That’s also worth something! A passion in life, every day fulfilment. I am very grateful for that. Finding or having a passion in life is the most beautiful thing there is. I wish that everyone. For quite a lot of students who come to me and us on cello lessons, playing the cello is a passion. Maybe not the daily interpretation of life, but enough to make people from the region Breda, Nijmegen, Almelo and Deventer come to cello lessons. I find that very impressive. Whether you come from far away or from Amsterdam Houthavens; thank you for choosing me or Koen or Lotte to teach you and let you come back again. Hopefully we can help you again in 2019.

Hanna; you’re new; welcome to join us! Also so special; welcome back to us; Ferdinand! How nice to have you back. And Hanna who with me for the first time in 15 years? unpacked her cello again; welcome! Unpack and play!

The grid is now open until March. Don’t plan any further than the last day of March, enthusiastic cellists, because April isn’t open yet! Do you want continuity in your lessons plan in time and be sure of a place. Because I am taking part in a Mattheus with the String Quartet plus double bass, there is a Friday where I have to stop teaching earlier. this Mattheus is attractive for those who would like to hear a selection of highlights; it is a production with a project choir. Amateur singers can sign up for this and we are going to accompany them with, of course, a horn section. At the end of March we will give a concert in Amsterdam, at the Scheepvaartmuseum, among other places. More about that later.
