But then…  July 18th and 20th; Workshop Solfêge for beginners!

Can you imagine how convenient it is that when you read your notes, you hear the melody line in your head the way it’s going to sound?
And that you’re so comfortable with different rhythms when you’re studying that you don’t stop to think about it when you read these rhythms?
These skills make you take in and understand new music much faster. It increases your musical knowledge, gives you more self-confidence and makes you sing better.
Have you never done anything with this before?  On the 18th and 20th of July next I offer all subscribers of this Cello Blog a workshop Solfêge

It is on July 18 in Amsterdam from 19.45 to 21.45 and July 20 from 14.00 to 16.00 in Havelte. 

In Havelte the workshop will take place with a minimum of 5 interested parties.

What are we gonna do?

We’re going to read from the magazine. You’ll be amazed at how fast you can learn that.
We’re going to tap rhythms. The more reserve and skill, the faster you study your cello pieces correctly.
And we’re going to play chords and sing in the most common keys.
We’re going to use our voice and cello to find the right bass tone for manageable songs.
And I’m going to offer you simple tricks to learn to sing and recognize intervals (the distances between two notes).

I think there are cellists out there now who think; ‘Singing? I can’t; bye!’

This is probably a little more nuanced. Maybe it is that you are not used to working with your (singing) voice and that you find it difficult to strike tones correctly. In that case you will notice that after three quarters of an hour you are much firmer in your shoes than before, because I am helping you. Practice makes perfect and not tackling it is over, because now you can do something about it.

We have two hours to explore and practice as much as possible together.

For whom is this workshop?

For anyone who wants to learn. I assume that you have no experience at all with Solfêge and Theory of Music. A real ‘Dummy’. Lovely, isn’t it? No expectations on my part. But if you already know something, you’re also welcome; I do my best to let everyone learn as much as possible.

What do you need?

I will send you digital material after registration from beginners to advanced to continue working at home. Preferably you can bring this material to the workshop on your tablet or laptop. Don’t have a tablet? No problem: I have enough tablets, also for you. Just let me know if you want to use them.

You will leave your cello at home this time because we are going to tap and sing a lot and when we pick up a number of cello’s we will use cello’s from the studio.

So don’t prepare anything; it’s not easy, is it?

This is on Thursday evening 18 July in Amsterdam-West in the Houthaven, at Haparandaweg 788A . The studio is empty from 19.30 and at 19.45 we start. It will be finished around 22.00 after which there will be time to chat.

or on Saturday 20 July in Havelte from 14.00 to approximately 16.15 on Rijksweg Noordzijde 7.

The costs for the Solfêge workshop are € 49,00. There is room for a maximum of 11 participants because we leave the cello at home.
